still under the influence of the karno effect
to prove to myself my assertion that running hills is easier than biking them, i ran parrot today, same route i rode yesterday. it's about 3.5 miles up -- the .5 can be dropped when biking, but when running, i count it! i took polhemus/crystal springs back down, including the obstacle course. i gotta say the OC is much, much worse on foot than on a bike. i spent much time running on the yellow line simply because there was no other place i could be where i could see oncoming traffic, or oncoming traffic could see me. there's no shoulder, no bike lane, blind curves over narrow bridges. but, it's a fun road to run.
i also ran toe/midfoot instead of heel. it made a huge difference, much more comfortable. dean told me to do it, so i did.
the verdict: for any given hill, especially a 20%-er, i'd much rather run it than bike it. on the other hand, for any given flat/downhill, i'd much rather have my bike. on the whole, for any given route, i'd prefer a bike -- because then i can easily double the route! i missed going really long distance today, though i did manage at least 7.5 miles, possibly as many as 9.
