on the other hand...

consider this :

while most people, when presented with the basic setup, would assume only one possible intention, and while it would be disingenuous to deny that that outcome had been seriously considered, it can be said with absolutely no deception that only the recognition of a potential outcome exists - the intention is not the popularly assumed one.

indeed, light introspection reveals with abundant clarity that at relatively (and perhaps absolute) great personal (and public?) expense, this undertaking will be undertaken with no regard (though, to be fair, no disregard!) for the conventional reward.

what, then, is the purpose?

the lack of nefarious opportunities (though perhaps your author lacks imagination to see base opportunities where some exist!) leaves but one conclusion - conventional, yes, but still not the assumed conventional motivation.

isn't that sweet?

in the past, at the onset of the termination of such excursions, continuing through to the onset of the next, some things thought dead have been shown, in lovecraftian fashion, to be less than so. still, the past is not the future, nor is the present the past. also, the future is neither the present nor the past. in summary: past performance is not an indicator of future results.

the point is this : a new era is underway, and though it may be short lived - indeed, it may not last much beyond sundown - and though it may be ill conceived, the purpose - recently identified - has never been the destination, it has always been the journey.

Jesus Christ. I'll never get to a level where I think I can ever use the word, nefarious, let alone know what it means. And, I'm happy about that.

patience, grasshopper. one day, the day will come when the darkness has receded, on account of the day coming, in which case dawn will have broken. cracked, even, if you had been so lucky to have been up at the time, which is possible, because that is the day upon which (though it is difficult to conceive of being "upon" a day) you will have gotten up at the crack of dawn.

a new day dawns at the crack of dawn.
